What is a Freeview HD TV
I'm sure you already know about Freeview HD and HD Freeview Boxes.. if not you should ready the rest of this site!
A "Freeview HD TV" is not just your regular HD-Ready TV - This is a really common misunderstanding that needs clarifying!
For the past few years manufacturers have been selling HD TV's with built in Freeview. This means that the TV can receive regular Freeview channels and when it is connected to a HD device (such as a DVD player etc) the TV can display the output in HD. Just because the TV is HD ready it does not mean that it can receive Freeview HD.
In order for a TV to be able to receive Freeview HD it must have a VB-T2 (MPEG-4) tuner. Make sure you double check and ask the sales man if you are unsure.. just ask 'Does the TV have a built in HD Freeview Box with VB-T2 (MPEG-4) tuner'. If the answer is yes then you can call that TV a 'Freeview HD TV'.
Sony are leading the way and will have their first Freeview HD TV ready in March 2010 with LG looking to release their first Freeview HD TV in April 2010.
